Dog-friendly cafes

Local Favourites

Planning a morning walk and brekkie with your dog?  Don’t worry about what cafes are pet-friendly, we’ve done it for you!  Just pick a place that best suits you and your pooch and get on your way.

But first you need a place to walk.  In Cullen Bay there is a beautiful grassed area across from Kahlin Oval.  It’s only part way down Cullen Bay Crescent and overlooks the marina and water features.  Make your way back and go along Marina Boulevard to the Boatshed Coffee House and sit on the deck enjoying views of the water.

The Esplanade and above State Square Carpark are other great places to walk.  On the Esplanade there’s a wide, paved footpath that stretches to both ends, trees that provide shade majority of the way and views of the beach.  The State Square Park also has an ideal footpath and lush, manicured lawns.  After walking the park and get a satisfying meal at one of these cafés:

Roma Bar

Along Cavenagh Street, this relaxed café serves classic and international brunch dishes.  Their great coffee, diverse menu and choice of outdoor seating makes it the perfect place for post-walk brunch.  All seating is shaded so you can both cool off and relax.

Ray’s Café and Patisserie

Positioned on the corner of Smith and Searcy Street, this popular café has plenty of outdoor seating for your dog to rest.  It’s shaded, has trees blocking view of the road, and fans, keeping it cool and circulated.  Their food high quality and well-made, with many vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.

Ruby G’s

On Mitchell Street, Ruby G’s has food and coffee raved about, and welcome people and pets to their vast outdoor seats.  The menu is simple but prepared beautifully and many items can be made vegetarian.  If you’re craving something sweet choose from their range of homemade patisserie treats and pick up some gluten free bread while you’re there (also made in house!)

Alberto’s Café

Again on Cavenagh Street, get your fix of gourmet toasties, laksas, crepes and more at this small, but great café.  So that you get to try their fantastic food, silky coffees and fresh juices, make sure you get there early if you can to get a seat.  All tables are undercover and there’s plenty of room between the tables and the footpath, great for your dog.
