Things to do with the kids
Take advantage to get the kids out and about on the weekend or school holidays, the city has plenty of kid-friendly activities and restaurants.
The Mall is a great place to begin the day, with plenty of shops, a water fountain and playground for the kids. Only a five minute walk away is Crocosaurus Cove a great place for kids to get up close and personal with one of Australia’s deadliest animals. Kid’s will get the chance to feed and hold crocodiles!
After an adventure with these lethal creatures, it’s time for lunch. Many places in the city offer affordable dining and family friendly venues. Alfonsino’s serves authentic Italian cuisine at a reasonable price. Another great option is down at the Darwin Waterfront. With plenty of restaurants in close proximity, you can choose one to dine at, or get takeaway and picnic under the trees.
Later, get the kids to enjoy a swim, there’s the option of the Wave Pool, the lagoon and Aqua Park. At the Wave Pool, float over the waves and boogie board to shore. For younger kids, there are separate kiddie pools with plenty of water fountains built to entertain all day. With a volleyball net on the sand, a fountain in the centre, and further from shore the Big Buoy, there’s endless entertainment for the whole family at Darwin Waterfront.
To catch dinner and a movie head to Stokes Hill Wharf before kicking back at the Deck Chair Cinema. Stokes Hill has seating right over the water and plenty of restaurants from a classic fish and chips to delicious Indian curries, everyone in the family will have their pick. The kids can get ice cream and then it’s off to the cinema. Watch a movie under the stars and end the day on a relaxing note.
